For over 35 years, The CT Gay Men’s Chorus has been a benchmark for a powerful and accomplished mix of high-caliber performance, community activism, empowerment, and inclusiveness. It has, in those years, gained legendary status among Connecticut’s LGBT organizations.
I’ve been a member of the chorus for over 12 years. In that time, I’ve seen the group move through some very tough times to reach the point where we are now: a vibrant, enthusiastic, upbeat group which looks to build bridges between the gay community and the community at large, through song and the spreading of goodwill at every opportunity. I’m a better person because of it.
Lately, however, amidst the pandemic, we’ve been facing a challenge. During a good part of these past three years, we had not had the financial luxury of ticket sales, or of our fabulous and spirited monthly fundraiser, Bingomania! We have lately resumed our concerts and Bingomania, but we’re still feeling the pinch of those many missed events. In short, our financial position is still recovering, and we could use your assistance.
I’m asking you please, if you have ever been moved by the music of The Connecticut Gay Men’s Chorus, or even if you haven’t, to consider making a donation to the group through this wonderful fundraising event, the Great Give of New Haven . Early giving opened on Friday, April 28, and all giving closes on May 7. But if you can plan it, we have the opportunity for extra funds if you donate from Wednesday, May 3 at 8am to Thursday, May 4 at 8pm. Your donation will help us ensure that we’ll be able to keep singing for you, and endeavoring to change hearts and minds. Thank you so much for your kind consideration!
